hoehn Marcus then chose to continue his wrestling career at the University of Missouri, and spent the next five season competing for the Tigers under the leadership of Head Coach Brian Smith. These five years would prove to be the most important and informative of his career as his knowledge and abilities would grow exponentially under the tutelage of coaches such as Pat McNamara, Bart Horton, Shawn Charles, Mike Eierman, Lee Pritts, Joe Johnston, Kurt Backes, and more. Furthermore, the benefit of competing along side teammates such as Ben and Max Askren, Michael Chandler, Tyron Woodley, Mark Ellis, Tyler McCormick, Dom Bradley, Matt Pell, Nick Marable, and many other accomplished athletes proved to be an invaluable tool of growth for Hoehn.

Marcus went on to be four time letter winner for the Tigers.  He was the 141 lb starter in Mizzou’s ’07-’08 & ’08-’09 campaigns, and in the summer between those two seasons was able to implement excellent coaching from Brian Smith, Shawn Charles, and Ben Askren to improve from 0-5 in Big XII duals & 0-2 at the Big XII tournament in 2008, to 5-0 in Big XII duals & winning the 141 Big XII Championship and earning a trip as the 5th seed to the NCAA tournament in 2009.

Upon graduating with his B.A. in General Studies, Hoehn pursued a career in Coaching and Education at Union County High School in Morganfield, KY.  While completing his Master’s Degree in Special Education, Marcus began his professional career as a Special Education Teacher (five years), Assistant Wrestling Coach (3 years), and Head Wrestling Coach (2 years).  During this time, Marcus also married his wife (now of four years), Katie Jane Hoehn, who is a personal trainer and is currently finishing her Master’s Degree in Dietetics at Fontbonne University.

During his time at UCHS, Coach Hoehn gained valuable coaching and leadership skills while transitioning into the Head Coaching position.  He was able to successfully implement an effective training schedule, organize fund raisers, instill positive character, and lead the individual growth of many young men, both on and off the mat.
